Some things I learned while traveling to London to take another part of the IRS Enrolled Agent exam:
1) London isn't always rainy! It was quite pleasant around 65-80 degrees. A real vacation from the 100+ temps in Jerusalem.
2) Both the IRS and the exam center provider still have no idea why the exam stopped being administered in Israel and many other countries since COVID hit. Quite a conundrum.
3) A subway is a pedestrian underpass under an avenue, and the underground is the subway train.
4) Media reports of London being the West's most antisemitic city are sensationalist clickbait, not the actual reality. Did not experience any antisemitism at all, and was respected like any other person in the city.
The media likes to focus on negativity and out of the ordinary occurrences.
Thanks to my friend Mendy Jacobs for reassuring me prior to my visit.
5) I never knew that four bland letters appearing on the screen after taking my exam could be so exciting: Pass.
Couldn't the programmers have written something a little more celebratory?
6) Experiencing sunset at 9:30 PM with twilight for another hour, and sunrise at 4:15 AM was quite an experience.
